ELECTED OFFICIALS - RESPONSIBILITY TO GMA
The state mandates that each City develop codes, regulations and ordinances to be in compliance with State including those required to meet the population targets. Whether it is the past City Council, present City Council or future City Council, all Councils past and present have endeavored to be in compliance with State Law and the needs of the Community for Housing, Goods and Services.
Irrespective of the diversity of the make up of the Council, the Council is required to meet state law. If State law is not met, the city’s are sanctioned and state funding is held up.
HERE IS MY TAKE ON ALL THIS

In the recent past - developers have been made out to be the bad guys and any councilmember taking campaign contributions cannot be working for the citizens or in good faith. Nothing can be further from the truth. I have received campaign funds from "developers". I sat down with each of them and unequivocally stated that they are not buying my vote. I have voted against their proposals in the past and I may do so again in the future. However, they to are a part of our community. With out them, nothing gets built including the house you reside in. I listen to what they have to say. They are experts in their field. Why would I not listen to them. I also listen to the community and how they "feel" about development even though they may not know what rules, regulations and mandates we are up against. In the end I have to make a decision on what is best for the community with everything in mind. I promise you - I will do my best for the community. For all of the community.

By the way something I forgot to mention: Out of all the extra things that developers do - that quite frankly they do not have to do, they also bring family wage jobs to the community.

Developers are not the bad guys here. They are building the infrastructure for your city!
